Wheeleo® vs. Quad Cane

HomeBlog

This video highlights the impact of the Wheeleo® on the gait of a person with reduced mobility post-stroke.

With a Quad Cane

The patient adopts a three-point gait, a frequent compensation pattern to improve stability. However, although designed to offer a wider support surface than a simple cane, the quad cane has several limitations:

  • It must be lifted with each step.
  • It is in the air more than 50% of the time, which means it doesn’t help when balance is most fragile.
  • It heavily demands attention and coordination, which can exacerbate difficulties in a person with hemiplegia.

With the Wheeleo®

The change is immediate. The Wheeleo®, a one-handed walker, provides key advantages:

  • Constant ground support thanks to its four wheels. Stability is ensured throughout the gait cycle.
  • One-handed operation, making it perfectly suited for use by people with hemiparesis.
  • Doubled walking speed immediately, by eliminating the three-point gait pattern and improving fluidity.

In Conclusion

The Wheeleo® doesn’t just replace the cane: it transforms walking by improving stability, speed, and ease of use simultaneously. A real lever for regaining confidence and safety in daily life, even long after a stroke.
