The Rehazenter, officially called the National Center for Functional Rehabilitation and Readaptation (CNRFR), is a medical facility located in Luxembourg. It specializes in functional rehabilitation and readaptation of patients after accidents, illnesses, or surgical interventions. The center offers multidisciplinary care services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and neurological, orthopedic, and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation. The Rehazenter plays a key role in supporting patients towards optimal recovery of their autonomy and quality of life. It was also one of the first centers to integrate the Wheeleo® into its therapeutic care, thus facilitating patient mobility within the center to improve their independence, both in their movements and in their rooms.
The Wheeleo® has been able to change some of our practices because it had been a long time since we had any innovation in terms of technical walking aids. I was pleasantly surprised by the usefulness of an object that is ultimately simple, easy to take on vacation, and can be brought to work.
Here, we have a product that is quite stylish, that looks good. I find that patients are quite happy to be able to use it. I can walk more and more. It helps me a lot. It’s a real tool of freedom for when you’re in a wheelchair.
Depending on the patient’s status and our objectives, we will look for this or that aid in the toolbox, and the Wheeleo® is now an integral part of the toolbox. We also need simple, effective, easy-to-use tools. It is an integral part of the care pathway for most of our patients, especially hemiplegic individuals.
We clearly use the Wheeleo® in our care protocol for all patients who have a walking disorder and need technical assistance, even if it’s just haptic support to work on their verticality, but it really makes sense. The Wheeleo® ticked many boxes of interest for technical aid in the context of rehabilitation.
Most patients generally get the Wheeleo® very early in the care process to try to increase autonomy and return home. We move directly to a two-step walk. So, we save time, we gain efficiency. What we’re looking for is this self-confidence in walking. It’s about regaining a quality of walking that is fluid, efficient, and not energy-consuming.
The Wheeleo® actually allows you to move around much faster and be autonomous. With confidence… because it’s thanks to it that we can have confidence too. Little by little, as time goes on, they gain confidence in themselves and they move around on their own until the day we say: “We’re letting you make the journey on your own.” It has become so usual that we can no longer imagine living without the Wheeleo®!
The best effect for me with the Wheeleo® is the aspect of walking quality that we immediately observe: this fluidity, the speed, the weight transfer of the patient that we can observe. The best effect we see on our patients is first their smile because they have simply regained autonomy in walking and the freedom to move where they want.
I can go to the shower, to the toilet by myself. I can dress myself. With this, I can go! It rolls and it rolls well! Practical, fluid, and innovative. Light, practical, and its design. Autonomy, self-confidence, and motivation.
