Testimonial: Caroline Socquet – Physiotherapist at Saint-Luc University Clinics
My name is Caroline Socquet.
I am a physiotherapist at Saint-Luc University Clinics. I mainly work in neurology, in departments focused on the rehabilitation of patients with central or peripheral disorders.
Use of the Wheeleo®
We generally use the Wheeleo® in the following circumstances: in rehabilitation with patients who have mainly central or peripheral impairments, primarily with patients who have suffered a stroke. The Wheeleo® allows them to progress in the evolution of their gait rehabilitation.
Generally, this walking aid provides a lot of stability and allows for a more fluid gait, as it mimics a two-step walk. Patients often tend to walk faster with the Wheeleo® compared to other technical aids that force them to walk in three steps. It therefore more closely resembles a natural gait.
Benefits for patients
The Wheeleo® allows patients to feel progress in their rehabilitation, which also brings them positivity. In my opinion, this aid can be used with all types of patients.
We mainly use it with patients who have suffered a stroke or have hemiparesis, as it is easier to manipulate than some other technical aids. I also think that the Wheeleo® can be used for patients in rehabilitation, whether it’s cardiac, pulmonary, or even orthopedic rehabilitation.
Conclusion
The Wheeleo® is not limited to neurological patients. In my view, it stands out for three main qualities: Speed, Stability, and Progress.
