Some testimonials speak of daily help.
This one speaks of reconstruction.
An extraordinary journey
Gauthier had a brain tumor.
Four cerebral hemorrhages. One coma.
Numerous complications.
It’s her mom, Ludivine, who narrates – with the calm precision of someone who has been through the unthinkable and come out on the other side.
“Lots of complications – but voila, Gauthier is a warrior and he’s here!”
From wheelchair to independent walking
Gauthier’s rehabilitation progressed in stages:
wheelchair, then ramp, then assisted walking. It was at this point that the Wheeleo® was suggested by the care team – to make his walking more fluid, more stable, and enable him to gain greater autonomy.
Ludivine’s first reaction was surprise:
“My first reaction when I saw the Wheeleo® was something very maneuverable, very easy, that didn’t make any noise.”
But what struck her most was stability – crucial in the case of Gauthier, whose brain operations made any fall potentially catastrophic:
“When Gauthier had a little hesitation when standing up, the Wheeleo® didn’t move.
Gauthier never had a fall – never had the sensation of falling.”
A tool for revalidation, not just assistance
What sets this testimonial apart is the dimension of therapeutic progression. The Wheeleo® didn’t simply accompany Gauthier – it enabled him to rebuild a walking pattern.
The family was lucky enough to be able to take the Wheeleo® back home with them. This enabled us to see the progress being made:
“We really saw the way Gauthier was moving around the house better and better, in a stable, safe way.”
And beyond the functional, there was also something important for Gauthier himself:
“He was proud to show off his tool – much better than a wheelchair, I think.”
The most beautiful ending: no longer needing it
Three weeks before the shoot, Gauthier stopped using the Wheeleo® – a new objective set with his revalidation team at the day hospital.
Gauthier concludes with a few direct words:
“At first, it helped me to walk properly. Then, with a little exercise, I was able to do without it – to give way to normal walking.
I’ve gained a lot of independence thanks to it.”
And his conclusion, straightforward:
“There’s no question about it. You have to buy it – you have to have it to learn how to walk.”
