Aurélien and the Wheeleo®: before and after

After a head injury, Aurélien, a young high-school student, regained his mobility, confidence and social ties thanks to Wheeleo®. His mom tells the story, and so does he.

Some tools are life-changing. Not metaphorically – really. That’s what Aurélien’s mom sums up in one phrase, recurring several times in these testimonials: “There’s a before and an after.”

Just over five years ago, Aurélien suffered a serious accident. A head injury that left him with lasting motor sequelae and a daily risk of falling. Since then, his life has revolved around one imperative: getting around safely, without cutting himself off from the world.

Video 1 – Aurélien and his mom’s testimony

Doctors and physiotherapists helped the family to think things through. The aim was to gradually reduce the level of support, while maintaining balance and safety during movement. This is how the Wheeleo® came into being. “It’s very easy to handle, it’s stable – but at the same time it moves with you.”

Little by little, Aurélien gained confidence. Enough to take the decisive step of taking the Wheeleo® to school. “It’s helped me to socialize more with others. Since school started, I’ve made a lot more friends.”

Teachers and administrative staff have noticed this without being asked: “We see him more. He’s more mobile, more outgoing. Aurélien, he’s around more.”

Video 2 – Aurélien’s daily Wheeleo® routine

What the mother describes in this second video is the concrete transformation of everyday school life. Before, Aurélien was often alone. With the Wheeleo®, his movements are more fluid, there are fewer obstacles, and contact with others is more natural. “There’s more dynamism, more movement, it’s more flexible. There’s less of a barrier than with a rollator.”

This gain in mobility also means a gain in presence – in the full sense of the word.

Video 3 – Why Aurélien chose the Wheeleo®.

Part of the answer lies in the fact that the Wheeleo® solves the problem where the walker failed. Their old device weighed 11 kilos. Mom had to take it out of the trunk three or four times a day – school, physio, shopping. Heavy, cumbersome and socially stigmatizing. “Rollator equals elderly person, person who doesn’t walk well.”

With Wheeleo®, there’s no need to ask for chairs to be pushed at the café. It slips discreetly into a corner. For short errands, it has definitely replaced the walker. “The Wheeleo® is a real life-changer. It’s small, it doesn’t take up much space.”

A tool that gives way to life

What emerges from these three videos is a simple but powerful idea: the best walking aid is the one you forget. Not because it’s useless – but because it doesn’t impose itself. It accompanies.

The Wheeleo® didn’t cure Aurélien. It has given him back something that the walker had unwittingly taken away: fluidity, discretion, and with them, a measure of freedom.
