Their potential is immense and their future looks promising. However, a major challenge persists: <strong>accessibility<\/strong>. Whether in terms of <strong>price<\/strong>, <strong>availability<\/strong>, <strong>technology<\/strong> or <strong>professional training<\/strong>, these tools are not yet within everyone&#8217;s reach.   <\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to keep in mind that <strong>high-tech doesn&#8217;t solve all problems<\/strong>. It&#8217;s not a panacea. These technologies should be seen as <strong>complementary tools<\/strong>, to be judiciously integrated according to the patient&#8217;s needs and therapeutic goals.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Essential Place of Low-Tech Devices<\/h2>\n\n<p>So-called <strong>low-tech<\/strong> devices retain an <strong>essential<\/strong> place in physiotherapy and occupational therapy rooms. Inexpensive and easily accessible, they allow for achieving <strong>relevant therapeutic objectives<\/strong> for a large number of patients. These tools form the basic foundation of the physiotherapist&#8217;s work.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinical Illustration: the Complementarity of Low-Tech \/ High-Tech<\/h2>\n\n<p>The video I&#8217;m presenting to you perfectly illustrates this complementarity. It shows a right hemiplegic patient accompanied by her physiotherapist Pierre MAY-CARLE. Three walking aids are implemented:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ekso Bionics<strong>\u00ae<\/strong> NR Exoskeleton<\/strong> (high-tech)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wheeleo\u00ae one-handed walker<\/strong> (low-tech)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manual assistance from the physiotherapist (the most high-tech of all!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Without the Wheeleo\u00ae, despite the exoskeleton, the patient would adopt a <strong>3-step<\/strong> gait, with a pause time in double support necessary to move the cane.
